Job description

Sous Chef with Pathway to Executive Chef and Partnership

Location: Ogunquit, Maine

Position Type: Full-Time, Seasonal (Mid-April – Mid-February) with six weeks of paid vacation

Compensation: $50,000 – $60,000 Base Salary + ~$10,000 Bonus Potential

The Opportunity

This position offers more than a paycheck; it provides a tangible career trajectory for an ambitious culinary professional. We are actively searching for a leader with the drive to ascend to an Executive Chef role, offering a defined pathway to potential partnership within the business.

About the Establishment

Located in the heart of Ogunquit, Maine, our family-owned restaurant offers a distinct culinary escape to the Mediterranean. We are celebrated for authentic Greek cuisine and fresh seafood, featuring standout dishes like Whole Grilled Branzino and fresh fish Plaki, served in a vibrant atmosphere complete with live entertainment. We pride ourselves on executing timeless family recipes with modern culinary precision.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated "working chef", a hands-on leader who thrives on the line rather than behind a clipboard. The ideal candidate is an operational powerhouse capable of maintaining high standards in a high-volume, fast-paced dining environment. You will lead kitchen operations by example, ensuring consistency in every plate, from Braised Lamb Shank to Marinated Grilled Octopus.

A Balanced Lifestyle

Embrace a schedule that rewards your hard work with significant downtime. While the peak summer season demands high energy (up to 60 hours per week), the off-season offers a manageable 40-hour work week.

Most notably, this role offers six weeks of paid vacation during our seasonal closure from mid-February to April 1st. This is a rare benefit in the hospitality industry that allows for true rest and rejuvenation every year.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in rewarding dedication with a comprehensive package that supports long-term success:

  • Competitive Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 annually.
  • Performance Bonus: Opportunity to earn an additional ~$10,000.
  • Retirement: SEP IRA with company match available after one year of service.
  • Housing Assistance: Options available, including a room during the summer and a rental during the winter season.
  • Healthcare Support: Assistance available for affordable health insurance options through Maine Care.

Take the Next Step

If you are a results-driven professional ready to take ownership of a high-performing kitchen and build a future with a premier dining destination, apply today to start the conversation.
