Thai In-Person Interpreter (IPI)
Job Title: Thai Interpreter
Location: Everett, onsite servicing Snohomish County
Job Type: Independent Contractor
This is a 1099 independent contractor position and does not include benefits.
Position Overview: The Thai In-Person Interpreter is responsible for facilitating onsite communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) community and the practitioners that serve them in a variety of settings. This contract position is flexible and an opportunity to expand your interpreting business with access to many sessions per day.
Job Functions
  • Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions in a professional manner.
  • Always exhibit professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for sessions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new and changing situations.
  • Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context.
  • Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment.
  • Respect for and understanding of our Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients, culture, dialect and beliefs and preferences.
  • Strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting.
  • Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
  • Render exact and correct concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol.

Qualifications
  • Fluent and have strong verbal communication skills in both the source and target language (Thai to English and vice-a-versa).
  • Excellent listening and retention skills to maintain a high level of accuracy during interpretation.
  • Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or have a national certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI and NCIHC).
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read and write in the requested languages.
  • Degree or certifications in interpreting practices.
  • National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI or DSHS.
  • Accredited Medical Interpreting Training course (i.e.: ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour accredited medical courses).

Pay Range: $35 - $50 per hour
