Job Title: Clay Artist

ABOUT SLOOMOO


Sloomoo celebrates joy through an interactive experiential world, focused on slime, hands-on play, and all things #satisfying. Sloomoo launched in October of 2019 with an immersive 12,000 square-foot experience in Soho, NYC, where hand-crafted, artisanal slime (dozens of textures and the most delicious scents), soothing ASMR, and wondrous delights (you can slingshot slime, walk on slime, design your own slime, and more) converge with glossy, contemporary design.


Sloomoo’s universe has expanded - there are now a total of 5 Institutes (NYC, LA, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta) and two MiniMoos (Boston, Philadelphia) with more to come.


MiniMoos are smaller than the Institutes but packed with as much color, surprise, and play.

Position Summary

Our clay artists are the creative behind our Sloomoo Slime Magic. In addition to assisting in the creation, packing and processing of our over 50 unique and craft slimes, our artists will focus on the design and delivery of the intricate clay designs that accompany some of our products (Check some of them out at SloomooInstitute.com!) Quality, consistency and timeliness are key performance indicators in clay artistry at Sloomoo, as you may be challenged to make 25-100 clay toppers each day, and we want to make sure the last clay piece is just as perfect as the first!


You will be key to upholding Sloomoo’s values:

Responsibilities:
  • Experience in areas of physical artistry - claymaking, sculpting, pottery, painting or similar.

  • Ability to work a consistent schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.

  • This position requires standing, walking, repetitive hand motion, bending, kneeling and climbing, at times while wearing a uniform.

  • Ability to follow recipes and written instructions.

  • Ability to use measuring tools.

  • All applicants must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ensure the policies & procedures of each experience within the production is operating safely and efficiently.

  • Occasional upkeep/cleaning of location in alignment with required specifications, reporting any deficiencies to relevant managers.

  • Maintain brand integrity throughout the experience.

  • Identify, report and log any damage or repairs.

  • Ensuring safety is top priority at all times.

  • Ensure the product you are making achieves the Sloomoo Inc. quality standard.

  • Provide the manager on duty team feedback on how to improve the production process.

  • Successfully complete daily goals and tasks.

  • Support team members as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in clay artistry, sculpture, or ceramics.

  • Proficient in various clay techniques (e.g., hand-building, wheel throwing, firing, glazing).

  • Strong ability to conceptualize and create original, visually appealing art installations.

  • Enjoys working with families/children.

  • Ability to work creatively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Understanding of safety protocols in art-making environments.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with visitors, explaining the creative process in a friendly and engaging manner.

  • Ability and/or comfort to work in large-group environments with multiple staff and up to several dozen guests at a time.

  • Minimum age: 18 years.
