Position Summary
The Business Development Representative is responsible for owning the full lifecycle of inbound leads — first response through qualification, sampling/trial, and closing the initial order. Owning the account success and growth for a period of one year before the account is transitioned to active account team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, uncovering customer needs, and creating long-term partnerships. You'll work closely with our sales and operations teams to deliver solutions that help our customers succeed.
Compensation is $70,000 to $100,000 annually. Combined, hourly pay, commission and other bonuses.
Responsibilities
• Prospect and develop new business through outbound calls, email campaigns, networking, and customer visits.
• Identify opportunities within marine, upholstery, awning, industrial, commercial, and specialty manufacturing markets.
• Qualify leads and convert prospects into long-term customers.
• Schedule meetings and product presentations with prospective clients.
• Develop a thorough understanding of Rochford Supply's products and services.
• Collaborate with Account Managers to transition and support growing accounts.
• Maintain accurate customer information and sales activity within the CRM.
• Follow up on quotes, samples, and customer inquiries to close business.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales activity and revenue goals.
• Attend trade shows, industry events, and customer visits as needed.
• Stay informed on market trends, competitive products, and customer needs.
Qualifications
• 2+ years of business development, inside sales, or B2B sales experience preferred.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Comfortable making outbound sales calls and prospecting daily.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Experience using CRM software is preferred.
• Microsoft Office proficiency required.
• Experience within industrial distribution, textiles, manufacturing, or related industries is a plus.
