Job Summary
North Windham School seeks a certified Spanish Reading Interventionist to support the development of Spanish foundational literacy skills and reading comprehension of K-4 Dual Language program students whose native or second language is Spanish. Candidate should demonstrate Spanish and English language proficiency and strong knowledge of linguistics and early literacy development in Spanish for emergent bilinguals. The ideal candidate possesses CT endorsement 902 (Bilingual Elementary Ed). Spanish Reading Interventionist is expected to work in collaboration with Dual Language classroom teachers and other interventionists and service providers.
Essential Duties
  • Ensure the safety of students.
  • Follows the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windham Board of Education
  • Sets and reinforces clear expectations and routines
  • Manages the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment
  • Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, uses appropriate techniques, and serves the needs of all learners in the classroom
  • Demonstrates strong content knowledge
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required
  • Conducts parent/teacher conferences
  • Assesses student learning continuously and identifies areas for intervention as needed.
  • Keeps parents up-to-date on student progress through the use of interim reports, report cards, and/or conferences

  • Designs and implements assessments that measure progress and uses assessments to refine curriculum and instructional practices.

  • Proof or demonstration of Spanish proficiency
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Windham Board of Education may find appropriate.
