The Assistant Principal will play a vital role in advancing our mission as a Signature School for Language and Global Education by fostering a joyful, inclusive, and highโ€‘achieving learning environment for all students. In partnership with the principal, staff, families, and community, the Assistant Principal supports the academic, linguistic, social, and emotional development of every child, ensuring alignment with our core values of Leadership, Effort, Ambition, Respect, and Navigation (LEARN/APRENDO). This role is instrumental in promoting rigorous, languageโ€‘rich instruction in both English and Spanish, where students actively engage in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking across content areas. Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and English are preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the Elementary School administrative team.
  • Assume responsibility for curriculum supervision and instruction for Elementary School.
  • Coordinate all curriculum development and implementation with the principal, directors, teachers, and others.
  • Assume responsibility for the administration of the schoolโ€™s testing program, e.g., MCAS.
  • Assist the principal in the development, implementation and followโ€‘up of all professional development initiatives.
  • Work with directors and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests.
  • Perform such recordโ€‘keeping functions as directed by the principal.
  • Serve with parent, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives during and after the school day, with some evening assignments.
  • Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deal with special cases as necessary.
  • Assist the principal in supervising coโ€‘curricular activities.
  • Assist the principal in the scheduling of teachers and students.
  • Assist in proposing schedules of classes and coโ€‘curricular activities.
  • Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conduct inventories, maintain records, and check receipts for such materials.
  • Assume responsibility for the coordination and assignment of substitute personnel, as necessary.
  • Assist the principal in evaluating all teachers according to the Unit A Contract.
  • Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as the principal may assign.
Qualifications
  • Certified as an elementary school principal by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education, with at least five years of successful teaching or administrative experience at the primary level.
  • Evidence of administrative and leadership ability.
