Job description

Staff Assistant/Test Proctor

The Staff Assistant/Test Proctor will administer and monitor the Accuplacer, GACE, CLEP, PSI and Scantron exams, and additional computer based exams administered through the Office of Testing Services in the Academic Success Center and reports to the Coordinator of Testing Services; administer computer based testing; complete mandatory certification through the testing vendors; and follow all guidelines and test security standards set by the testing companies. This is a 25-hour non-benefited position.

Responsibilities include setting up testing room with dividers, headphones, and pencils; logging in and loading testing software on computers; breaking down the testing room and securing equipment and materials after exam. Duties also involve checking in test takers, including securing personal belongings of examinees during the test, observing examinees, maintaining a calm and quiet testing environment, troubleshooting computer software issues, and communicating with the Coordinator of Testing Services for testing issues. Used testing materials are destroyed and an inventory of testing materials is maintained.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and one or more years of related work experience.

The proposed salary is $17.50 per hour for this non-exempt position, paid on a biweekly basis.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include consistently exhibiting engaging customer service, ability to support various constituencies served by the university, proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position, adherence to university policies and procedures to meet institutional goals and support university's mission for student success, and effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills.
