Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking incumbent and external qualified candidates to support North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyene Mountain Complex (NCMC) - Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract III (NISSC III).
Please note that this is contingent upon contract award, with an anticipated decision expected mid to late 2026
Qualified candidates will help operate, maintain, and sustain critical national mission systems to deliver resilient strategic threat warning and space capabilities as part of a world-wide architecture, providing strategic warning that our nation depends on during a conflict. This program will provide an opportunity to exploit the capabilities inherent in our diverse national systems to better meet the needs of the national command authority and warfighters to detect, track, and respond to strategic threats through 2030 and beyond
The Test / QA Software Engineer will support testing, quality assurance, integration validation, and operational readiness activities for mission-critical applications and systems supporting NORAD and USSPACECOM operations within the Cheyenne Mountain Complex environment. This role will support Agile software development and integration activities across complex operational and developmental environments supporting space, missile warning, command-and-control, and enterprise mission systems. The ideal candidate will possess foundational experience supporting software quality assurance, integration testing, defect management, and operational validation within DoD, aerospace, cyber, or mission-focused environments while collaborating closely with systems engineering, software development, cybersecurity, integration, and operations teams to improve mission capability, system reliability, and operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
  • Support software testing and quality assurance activities across the software development lifecycle including integration, regression, functional, system, and operational testing
  • Develop, maintain, and execute test plans, test procedures, test scripts, and automated/manual test cases
  • Support integration validation and operational readiness assessments across mission systems and enterprise environments
  • Document, track, and validate software defects, discrepancies, and corrective actions using defect tracking tools
  • Collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Support verification and validation activities for software releases, patches, upgrades, and modernization efforts
  • Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and release validation
  • Support automated testing, CI/CD integration testing, and DevSecOps quality assurance activities where applicable
  • Develop and maintain testing documentation, test reports, operational procedures, and readiness metrics
  • Support root cause analysis, incident response, and operational troubleshooting activities
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on software quality, system reliability, maintainability, and mission effectiveness
  • Ensure testing activities comply with program security, configuration management, and quality assurance standards

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, OR 0+ years with Master's degree; additional four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required; ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access required
  • Foundational experience supporting software testing, quality assurance, integration validation, or operational testing activities within DoD, aerospace, cyber, enterprise IT, or mission-focused environments
  • Familiarity with developing and executing test plans, test procedures, test scripts, and operational test activities
  • Experience documenting and tracking software defects, discrepancies, and corrective actions
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and software development lifecycle processes
  • Experience troubleshooting software and system integration issues within Linux and/or Windows environments
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, software development, cybersecurity, integration, and operations teams
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting NORAD, USSPACECOM, Space Force, missile warning, or space domain awareness missions
  • Experience supporting satellite ground systems, command-and-control systems, or enterprise mission systems
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipeline testing
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Zephyr, Confluence, GitLab, Jenkins, Selenium, or similar testing platforms
  • Experience supporting integration and operational testing within classified or mission-focused environments
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and secure software testing practices
  • Experience supporting verification and validation activities for mission-critical systems
  • Security+, Linux, cloud, or related technical certifications preferred

Target Salary Range
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
