Software Quality Engineer - Test Automation

Resideo is seeking a forward-thinking Software Quality Engineer - Test Automation to join our team in Austin, TX. This role is focused on building intelligent, scalable automation frameworks that ensure the reliability and performance of Resideo’s connected home solutions. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience with AI‑driven testing tools, AI agents, and Model‑Centric Platforms (MCP) to elevate our automation capabilities.

Job Duties Test Strategy & Planning
  • Design and maintain test strategies and plans based on product requirements.
  • Define and document test cases for functional, performance, and integration testing.
Automation Development & Execution
  • Maintain automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Appium, Playwright, Cypress, JUnit, and TestNG.
  • Leverage AI agents and MCPs to optimize test coverage, execution, and data synthesis.
  • Continuously enhance automation frameworks, incorporating AI and machine learning tools.
Product Validation
  • Ensure test coverage across web, mobile (iOS/Android), and API platforms.
  • Validate system reliability, scalability, and performance through automated end‑to‑end testing.
Defect Tracking & Resolution
  • Identify and report issues using tools like JIRA.
  • Collaborate with development teams to resolve defects and verify fixes.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with developers, product managers, and quality engineers to ensure high‑quality deliverables.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain clear documentation including test cases, results, and release notes.
  • Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and compliance processes.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in software quality engineering with a focus on automation.
  • 1+ year of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience testing SaaS solutions (Shopify experience is a plus).
  • Experience using AI‑based testing tools or frameworks (e.g., Testim, Mabl, Functionize).
  • Hands‑on experience with AI agents and Model‑Centric Platforms (MCP) for test automation and data analysis.
  • Ability to work in‑office three days/week (Tue/Wed/Thu) in adherence with our required hybrid work environment.
