Title: Test Technician
Location: Muncie, Indiana
Hire Type: Contract to Hire
Schedule:
• 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 2:00pm–10:30pm
• 3rd Shift: Sunday–Thursday, 9:30pm–6:00am (or 7:30pm–6:00am with OT)
Compensation: $27–$34/hour

Overview

We are seeking a Test Technician to inspect, measure, and evaluate locomotive systems to ensure they meet all specifications prior to shipment. This role focuses on electrical and mechanical testing, troubleshooting defects, and supporting safe and accurate testing procedures in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Test electrical, mechanical, and electronic locomotive systems and sub-assemblies
• Identify, troubleshoot, and repair defects found during testing
• Conduct locomotive track testing following all safety and operational procedures
• Follow written work instructions and testing procedures accurately
• Record and document test data and measurements
• Set up test equipment and instrumentation for system evaluations
• Operate locomotives, forklifts, tuggers, and overhead cranes as needed
• Read and interpret gauges, schematics, and precision instruments

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in electrical or mechanical technology preferred with related experience
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings
• Familiarity with locomotive or heavy equipment maintenance environments preferred
• Experience using test equipment and basic computer software (Windows, Office)
• Strong attention to detail and safety compliance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
