Job description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:
Escort race winner along with other horses determined by the stewards to the test barn for testing.
  • Ensures no unscrupulous behavior occurs during the walk to test barn (no administration of drugs or any foreign substances).
  • Assists in the safety of escorting said horses to the test barn. (should the horse in question gets loose escort attempts to catch the horse)
  • Carries groom apron bag to and from holding barn to the winners circle for every race.
  • Maintains own pony horses and assists outriders with loose horses between races.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must have at least two trained, sound, and athletic horses in the necessary level of fitness capable of supporting an outrider in his duties
  • Must be able to work effectively with peers, staff members, and regulatory agency personnel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations as specified in the OHRC rule rook.
