Job description

The Weitz Company is hiring a Power BI IT Solutions Analyst to join our Information Technology (IT) team. The Solutions Analyst is a liaison between technical staff and the functional group by understanding business requirements, processes, and cost effectiveness. This role will gather technical requirements, analyze and present alternatives, assist in project planning, and execute projects. The Solutions Analyst will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining Power BI dashboards for the organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on defined requirements and prioritized intake
  • Create clear, usable visualizations that support business decision-making and operational reporting
  • Maintain and enhance existing dashboards, including break-fix, performance improvements, and incremental enhancements
  • Publish updates using established release practices, including testing, communication, and documentation
  • Validate data accuracy by reconciling reports to source systems, expected totals, and business rules
  • Troubleshoot reporting issues end-to-end
  • Monitor reporting environments for reliability or performance issues and communicate status and resolution progress
  • Support user questions and service requests related to dashboards, metrics, and reporting outputs and provide advanced technical support for escalated issues
  • Collect, evaluate, and prioritize business enhancement requests; identify process improvement areas
  • Assess the impact of business requests related to applications and data flow; present to IT management
  • Read, understand, and apply complex technical information; explain information in a way that others can easily understand
  • Create, or assist with, project management and business analysis documents for project teams
  • Document all aspects of assigned system(s), including hardware, software, licensing, configuration, vendor contacts, procedures, changes and disaster recovery planning
  • Contribute to all project phases: plan, analyze, design, build, and test
  • Drive collaboration amongst internal and external team members as well as other stakeholders
  • Resolve conflict or issues that arise throughout a project; communicate resolution and expectations
  • Establish test environments and thoroughly monitor prior to deploying system upgrades
  • Utilize standard change management process for all system upgrades and modifications
  • Complete all tasks within an agreed upon timeframe including design, configuration, specification, testing, documentation, ongoing support and maintenance
  • Mentor others on system management, problem resolution, and project management

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in a related role
    • Associate's degree or higher in an IT related field is required, bachelor's degree is preferred
    • LEAN principles experience and ability to apply principles is desired
  • Skills:
    • Advanced Power BI skills including building and maintaining dashboards/reports
    • Ability to solve problems and think critically
    • Excellent customer service skills and comfortable talking to customers/internal employees
    • High level of confidentiality, attention to detail, and adaptability
