Job Summary:

The Quality Manager is responsible for driving the Quality Department tasks in support to deliver zero defects by supporting or leading containment activities, problem solving, customer claim activities, coaching/mentoring team members and supporting the quality test lab and its processes. This role supports Hydro's flagship North American manufacturing location, a site whose production output surpasses that of some entire Hydro regions. The Quality Manager will create and execute the site's quality strategy, driving continuous improvement and increasing the use of technology and data-driven tools to elevate quality performance across the operation.

What you will be doing

Job Responsibilities:

Develop and execute the site's quality strategy by leveraging technology, data analytics, and advanced quality systems to reduce defects, customer complaints, returns, and overall cost of quality while improving compliance and test performance metrics.

  • Provide customer support for quality issues, technical problem solving, and ensure that quality standards are understood, maintained, and adhered to both the plant and customer facilities.
  • Provides a connection between the customer and the plant in claims support, technical problem solving,continuous improvement initiatives, and quality performance projects.
  • Developing and reviewing processes on the plant floor including proper documentation, while driving quality strategy and improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction and operational excellence.

Conducting non-conformance investigations and leading root cause analysis activities to drive sustainable corrective actions.

  • Documenting deviations and/or conducting failure investigations, as appropriate.
  • Developing, coordinating, and providing training on Quality standards and processes for team members while fostering the growth and development of the Quality organization.
  • Trains / Coaches Team Members: Supports learning organization initiative through daily teaching / coaching on the shop floor. Imparts technical knowledge of the process and reactionary logic based on process deviation observation.
  • Is a subject matter expert in area of quality lab testing, equipment, dispositioning, lab back up, extrusion processes, and emerging quality technologies that improve measurement accuracy and process control.
  • Insuring completeness and accuracy of all inspection records and test data
  • Daily walks to scour the site for visible issues in the product and process.Coordinates immediate resolution.
  • Assist customers in the fundamentals of aluminum, extrusion processes, and quality requirements.
  • Demonstrates high standard for excellence and core belief in quality compliance, accuracy in reporting and always puts safety first.
What will make you successful?
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or related field. (required)
  • At least 7 years of professional experience working in a manufacturing environment. (required)
  • At least 5 years of previous leadership experience. (required)
  • Experience with aluminum extrusion or relatedmanufacturing processes. (required)
  • Experience working with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001 and IATF 16849standards. (preferred)
