Job description

Description

To prayerfully provide support to a lead teacher in charge of a classroom. Duties may include helping to create lesson plans, documenting progress, grading, overseeing lesson preparations, helping with lunch and/or recess, and reinforcing lessons by tutoring individual students or small groups.


Coordinate with classroom teachers and reading specialist the following duties:

Help students individually with phonetic exercises

Assist students when reading aloud in class or in groups

Periodic individualized Sight Word assessments

Quarterly individualized reading assessments

Administer make-up oral tests

Grade student work to allow for immediate feedback

Gives individual attention to students who struggle with reading skills

Provide extended lessons to individual students who need enforcement of new concepts

Collaborate with teachers regarding student's strengths and weaknesses

Provide extra help with Bible and Reading activities

Provide supervision to students who are sick and waiting for a parent to pick them up


These responsibilities are governed by the fact that the teaching assistant needs to be a Christian example and role model.
