Job description

Overview of the Position:
The Engineering Manager is directly responsible to the President for the engineering, planning, and coordination of the procedures relating to the Overhaul, Repair, and Inspection of Articles received by this Repair Station.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for directing, planning and laying out the details of inspection standards, method, and procedures used by the Repair Station in complying with all applicable FAA regulations and manufacture's recommendations.
The Engineering Manager will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee activities in the Engineering department, ensuring the development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the engineering organizations to ensure process alignment and consistency where possible to maximize overall team performance.
  • Establish and manage budgets related to personnel and projects aimed at achieving objectives. Must be able to adapt to changing priorities that result from changing customer/market demands.
  • Working with purchasing and supply chain.
  • Provide technical support for the Repair Station.
  • Manage the professional development and growth of the engineering team including overseeing goal setting, performance management and any specialized training requirements.
  • Coordinate with customers to understand their needs and requirements.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Evaluate figures, drawings, and step-by-step instructions to repair various aircraft components.
  • Evaluate technical data to substantiate repair instructions including stress analysis, free body diagrams, flight safety and failure analysis, and showing compliance to applicable regulations.
  • Evaluate equivalencies for tooling and consumables to support repair activities.
  • Other duties assigned by the company to address evolving business needs.
  • Participate in or lead corrective action teams as requested.
  • Participate in or lead continuous improvement projects as requested.
  • Participate in or lead capital projects as requested.

Education / Experience Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical Engineering or related field. Ten or more years of FAA Repair Station component MRO experience preferred.

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
