Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Test Automation Engineer to join our P&C Quality Assurance and Test Automation team. You will report to the Manager of P&C Quality Assurance and Test Automation.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in automated testing frameworks, software quality assurance, and technical ability to ensure the reliability and performance of our critical P&C policy systems. You will work on complex assignments, collaborating closely with technical and non-technical team members to deliver robust and effective automated testing solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts primarily for web and API applications.

  • Support the design of effective test cases by engaging with Agile teams to understand systems, workflows and requirements.

  • Execute testing within continuous integration pipelines using industry standard tools like GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.

  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with development teams to resolve issues.

  • Maintain and improve test environments, existing automated tests, and test data management strategies.

  • Implement and maintain test reporting and dashboards for visibility into test coverage and results.

  • Participate in test automation code reviews and contribute to quality standards and best practices.

  • Prepare detailed documentation for automated testing solutions, including best practices, test case design, data flow, system interfaces, and training materials.

  • Develop estimates for time and cost related to test automation development and ongoing operations.

  • Collaborate with the other Test Automation Engineers to translate strategic automation objectives into actionable testing solutions.

  • Stay current with emerging tools, trends, and technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Four to six years of experience in software development or test automation, with a minimum of 3 years focused on designing and implementing automated testing frameworks for complex business systems.

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in test automation, such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.

  • Experience in open source and/or proprietary test automation frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Tosca Commander

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead and mentor others.

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for a generous benefits package.

This is a 100% in-office position. The role requires consistent on-site presence to support collaboration, real-time decision-making, and effective partnership with cross-functional teams.

The salary range provided reflects targeted hiring locations and will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. Compensation may vary for candidates in other locations based on geographic differentials, cost of labor, and internal equity considerations.

  • Chicago, IL: $87,740.00 - $110,400.00

  • All Other Locations (Omaha, NE; Albany, NY and League City, TX): $79,764.00 - $100,368.00
