Job description

) The Maintenance Director in a nursing home is responsible for overseeing the entire maintenance department to ensure the facility's physical plant, mechanical, electrical, and resident care equipment are in safe, efficient, and compliant operating condition.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
  • Plan, organize, develop, and direct the Maintenance Department in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate maintenance services with other departments and report to the Administrator on department performance.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program, including daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of essential systems.
  • Ensure 24-hour coverage for critical systems such as boilers, HVAC, and mechanical equipment.

Facility Maintenance
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of all buildings and grounds year-round.
  • Perform skilled technical and preventive maintenance, alterations, repairs, and equipment replacements.
  • Inspect and test systems including fire alarms, smoke detectors, sprinklers, nurse call systems, emergency generators, and security systems.
  • Maintain building records, blueprints, maps, and schematics.

Safety and Compliance
  • Plan and conduct fire drills and extinguisher checks per state regulations.
  • Ensure annual fire safety training for staff.
