Senior Test Automation EngineerRole Summary

As a Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable test automation solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and security of SWIFT's financial technology platforms. You will drive automation strategy, integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines, troubleshoot application issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain test specifications/test cases/ sets of regression tests, for new hardware component/software release of applications in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Automate new and existing test scripts using Java, and Robot framework.
  • Analyze technical and functional requirements and translate them into software solutions.
  • Understand dependencies toward other systems and teams.
  • Prepare installation and operating procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to colleagues and assist in resolving problems reported by other team members.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • Supporting the delivered software and being part of a 'Center of Expertise' problem solving team.
  • Analyze support cases and, when appropriate, provide solutions following the established case management processes.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automated test frameworks for web, API, and backend applications.
  • Develop and execute automated test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, and programming languages including Java, Python, or C#.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid feedback.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and QA teams to define test strategies, test cases, and automation opportunities.
  • Analyse test results, identify defects, and work closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Perform root cause analysis for application defects, test failures, and production issues.
  • Troubleshoot application and UI issues in Linux environments by analyzing logs, server configurations, application traces, and monitoring data.
  • Investigate and diagnose network, connectivity, SSL/TLS certificate, authentication, and infrastructure-related issues impacting application functionality.
  • Use Linux diagnostic tools and commands to analyze logs, monitor system behavior, validate certificates, and identify root causes of failures.
  • Support API, integration, and end-to-end testing across distributed systems and microservices architectures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, automation frameworks, quality metrics, and engineering best practices.
  • Stay current with emerging testing technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve test coverage and efficiency.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance with a strong focus on test automation.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining automation frameworks from the ground up.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, C#, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Hands‑on experience with Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent automation frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of API testing tools and methodologies such as Postman and Rest Assured.
  • Experience integrating automated testing within CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting skills, including log analysis, certificate validation, network diagnostics, and application debugging.
  • Experience using Linux tools such as grep, awk, sed, tail, curl, netstat, tcpdump, openssl, and related utilities.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and Quality Engineering practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position in Virginia is $101,303.00 USD Annual MINIMUM to $140,000.00 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Our compensation packages include a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity for all employee’s contingent on personal and company performance.
