Job description

1-800-GOT-JUNK?, the #1 name in junk removal, is looking for a Test Automation Architect in Vancouver (also open to Kansas City). This role serves as the technical visionary responsible for designing, scaling, and maintaining robust automated testing frameworks, increasingly leveraging AI to optimize test generation, predictive analytics, and self-healing scripts.

By seamlessly integrating these intelligent frameworks into the CI/CD pipeline, this role drives continuous testing and drastically accelerates time-to-market. You will collaborate with cross-functional leadership to establish the advanced technical standards necessary for delivering high-quality products efficiently and consistently.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Define the long-term technical vision, architect, and govern the enterprise-wide automated testing framework, including its design, scalability, and maintenance.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager, QA Engineering to define long-term Test Strategies, conduct in-depth Test Automation Tool Evaluation, and lead holistic QA Process Improvement initiatives.
  • Design, implement, and govern the seamless integration of intelligent and self-healing test execution pipelines into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline for continuous regression and post-deployment validation in all environments.
  • Drive the strategic adoption and integration of AI/ML capabilities, including leveraging intelligent tools for optimized test generation, predictive analytics, and continuous self-healing automation frameworks.
  • Establish and enforce best practices and architectural standards for the development of unit, regression, and integration test suites across all teams.
  • Drive the standardization and integration of all QA tooling (e.g., Xray, Katalon, Playwright) to create a seamless, cohesive test ecosystem and maintain traceability.
  • Establish ambitious automation coverage goals (e.g., above 80%) and oversee the technical implementation of test automation integration with complex internal and external systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership and business stakeholders to define test scope, ensure comprehensive system requirements coverage, and align automation strategy with product goals.
  • Act as a primary mentor, actively coaching team members on advanced automation principles, architecture, and coding excellence.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of test automation code and architectural patterns to enforce coding standards, optimization, and cross-team reusability.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise to automation and development teams for speeding up troubleshooting and resolving complex production defects and incidents.
  • Define and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and ROI of the overall Test Automation strategy.
  • Develop advanced monitoring and reporting mechanisms for test results, prioritizing high-impact defects and leading root cause analysis for systemic issues.
  • Standardize the centralized management, scheduling, and storage of all test artifacts, data, and execution results for enterprise visibility.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

At least 8-10+ years of relevant experience in various methodologies, applying different strategies, and building test automation from the ground up across multiple environments and platforms:

  • Web: Building frameworks using Playwright and Katalon.
  • Mobile: Architecting strategies for iOS and Android.

  • Management: Governing quality using enterprise Test Tools.
  • CI/CD: Embedding automated suites into deployment pipelines.
  • AI: Leveraging AI for self-healing test scripts.
  • Integration: Connecting tools into unified QA ecosystems.

Required Skills:

  • Programming: Writes code using Java and TypeScript.
  • Architecture: Designs end-to-end QA automation frameworks.
  • Platforms: Advanced Playwright, Katalon, and Appium tools.
