Job description

Overview
The Resort Activities leader will be responsible for arranging, executing, and supervising all indoor and outdoor guests' activity games and functions, while providing privacy and safety. This includes Resort Activities, Group Events, and Kid's Club.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all recreation offerings and be able to clearly articulate to guests.
  • Facilitate activities including but not limited to guided hikes to the Point Vicente Lighthouse & Alta Vicente trails, lawn games, Wayfinding, Kids Club programs, etc.
  • Knowledgeable about local history, Terranea history, sustainability efforts of the resort, ecology and flora and fauna.
  • Complete reservations, notify vendors, and check in with guests accordingly.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of the correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Set-up and close activity areas.
  • Work with Guest Services to ensure accurate reservations and booking process.
  • Maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Execute group teambuilding and activities events.
  • Be an ambassador of all recreation programming.
  • Accurately charge activities and services to guest profiles through the resort's database, ensuring proper billing and record keeping.
  • Set up, manage, and break down tables, games, and event materials for corporate functions, group retreats, and team building activities.
  • Professionally strike corporate and leisure large scale events in a timely manner
  • Provide on-site support during corporate retreats, conferences, and VIP experiences.
  • Maintain inventory of activity supplies and proactively communicate reordering needs to leadership.
  • Track guest attendance and activity participation to support program reporting and future planning.
  • Assist in the creation, innovation and testing of new activities based on guest interests, trends, or seasonal opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, and Front Desk to ensure smooth delivery of recreation services.
  • Support resort wide initiatives and packages such as holiday dรฉcor setup, special events, and staff celebrations when needed.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Flexibility with other aspects of the Resort Activities team upon request of supervisors.
  • Flexibility with other services not pertaining to guest services but dealing with the hotel.

Qualifications
  • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Provide legible communication.
  • Ability to:
    • Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
    • Communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Prioritize, organize, and exercise problem-solving skills.
    • Follow directions thoroughly.
    • Understand guest's service needs.

Experience, Education, & Licensure:
  • Possession of a high school diploma/GED.
  • 2 years recreation, hospitality or special event experience.
  • Degree in recreation, hospitality, tourism or natural science preferred
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
  • Able to input and access information in the property management system/computers.
  • Previous guest relations training.

Compensation
Base Pay Start Rate $21.96/Hr
