JOB SUMMARY
The Packaging Technician is a hands-on production role responsible for the efficient and accurate assembly, labeling, and boxing of finished cannabis products. Working under the direction of the Packaging Lead, this role executes the daily packaging plan, ensures all compliance and quality standards are met, and prepares inventory for transfer to the Distribution team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assembly: Perform repetitive tasks related to final product assembly, including placing finished products (e.g., pre-rolls, vape cartridges, edibles) into their respective primary and secondary packaging containers.
  • Sealing: Operate and maintain small machinery or tools used for sealing, capping, or batch-coding packages.
  • Component Staging: Assist the team in counting and staging packaging components, inserts, and hardware needed for the production run when needed to assist the packaging Lead.
  • Inventory Handling: Carefully handle bulk and finished inventory, ensuring no damage or waste occurs during the packaging process. Moving materials in and out of the vault according to track and trace data and in-house protocol.
  • Label Application: Accurately apply pre-printed, state-mandated compliance labels, batch stickers, and warning labels to finished packages according to precise SOPs regarding placement and orientation.
  • Verification: Perform basic quality control checks to ensure the correct package is receiving the correct label and that the label is readable and properly affixed.
  • Counting and Sorting: Accurately count and verify packaged units against production logs before they are boxed or prepared for the next stage.
  • Quality Checks: Perform visual checks throughout the packaging process to ensure products are defect-free and meet final presentation standards. Report any quality issues or discrepancies to the Supervisor immediately.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary packaging station and production area throughout the shift, adhering strictly to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines.
  • Documentation: Assist with the accurate completion of production logs and quality checklists as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Distribution Prep: Prepare completed cases of packaged inventory for final quality control sign-off and transfer to the Distribution team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience: Previous experience in a repetitive production, assembly, packaging, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Dexterity and Focus: Must have excellent manual dexterity and the ability to maintain focus and attention to detail during repetitive tasks (counting, labeling, assembly).
  • Compliance Awareness: Must be willing and able to strictly follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work in a heavily regulated environment.
  • Communication: Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Consistency: Maintain regular and predictable attendance to perform job duties effectively.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must pass all required background checks.
  • Possess a valid driver's license or state ID.
  • Remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Must be able to lift and balance up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance) and stand for extended periods.
