MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma. Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred
Experience: Minimum 5 years of management operations, including personnel management. Minimum 3 years in the school transportation industry. Preferred or willing to obtain State and DMV Driver Safety Certification, CDL, School Bus Certification, and/or Instructional Certification.
Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, well-developed interpersonal skills, and the ability to make group presentations. Knowledgeable of adult training techniques. Able to complete the state certification program for school bus driver instructors. Experience with routing design and implementation. Experience with long-range planning for fleet and transportation operations. Evidence of insurability and safe driving records. Able to safely handle all district vehicles in any weather conditions and on varying road surfaces.

- Directs, manages, and administers a comprehensive transportation program to support the district's instructional and extracurricular needs.
- Provides executive leadership and oversight of multiple transportation terminals, ensuring consistency in operations, safety standards, staffing, and service delivery.
- Oversees and manages the vehicle maintenance and fleet program, ensuring safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of bus routes, schedules, and transportation systems to maximize efficiency and service quality.
- Develops and enforces policies, procedures, and operational standards to ensure safe and effective transportation services.
- Supervises and supports the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and retention of transportation personnel.
- Oversees student management and discipline processes on school buses in alignment with district policies.
- Serves as a primary liaison with parents, school officials, and community members, addressing concerns, resolving issues, and ensuring high levels of customer service.
- Acts as a central conduit for internal and external communication, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent messaging across stakeholders.
- Oversees public-facing transportation communication, including parent notifications, service updates, and crisis communication.
- Serves as the primary contact for weather-related events, coordinating with area districts and advising district leadership on operational decisions.
- Serves as backup liaison with city and municipal partners on transportation-related matters, including traffic, safety, infrastructure, and emergency coordination.
- Leads and oversees alternative fuel and sustainability initiatives, including propane and other clean energy programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and cost effectiveness.
- Develops and implements long-range fleet management plans, including vehicle replacement cycles, infrastructure needs, and emerging technologies.
- Monitors transportation operations and road conditions, making adjustments to routes and services as needed to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Investigates accidents, incidents, and operational concerns, ensuring proper reporting, follow-up, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Maintains accurate records and prepares reports related to transportation services, compliance, and performance metrics.
- Leads budget development, financial planning, and forecasting for transportation services, ensuring responsible stewardship of district resources.
- Participates in local, state, and national transportation organizations and remains current on industry trends, laws, and best practices to inform strategic decisions.
- Supports district leadership in emergency response and crisis management, coordinating transportation operations and communication across terminals and external agencies.
Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be required to accomplish the essential job function as directed by the appropriate administrator(s).
