The Mt. Lebanon School District values the years of service and experience that retired teachers and administrators possess, and would like to welcome retirees who remain actively certified to consider becoming a member of the District's Day-To-Day Substitute Teacher Pool.
PSERS allows school districts to employ retirees to fill "short-term substitute assignment" positions (those that do not extend beyond one week) on an emergency basis when there is a shortage of active substitute teachers. There is no limit to the total number of assignments that can be worked, and full or half-day assignment options are available, with the ability to schedule in advance using our web-based Absence Management software. Employment in this type of position will not affect PSERS benefits.
In order to be eligible, the retiree must hold an active PDE certification (instructional, specialist, or administrative) in any K-12 grade level or subject area at the time of hire.
Rates:
$125 per day ($62.50 per half day)
Hiring for per diem substitute teachers is ongoing, with applications reviewed as received.

In order to be eligible for employment in Pennsylvania public schools, the following clearances, trainings, and forms are required by the Mt. Lebanon School District upon hire:
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34)
FBI Federal Criminal History Record (Act 114)
Child/Student Abuse Recognition and Reporting (Act 126)
Arrest or Conviction Form PDE 6004 (Act 24)
School Personnel Health Record - Physical with TB Test
Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Information (Act 168)
