Short-Term Substitute Teacher

Reports to: Principal


St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic School is accepting applications for substitute teachers for the 2026-27 school year. 


Job Description:


A trained professional who provides temporary classroom instruction and supervision when a regular teacher is unavailable for a short period. The Short-Term Substitute Teacher supports the learning environment by following established lesson plans, maintaining order, and promoting the values of Catholic education. This is a temporary, part-time position serving as needed to ensure continuity in instruction and care for students.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides instruction according to lesson plans and classroom procedures established by the regular teacher or administration.
  • Maintains a positive, respectful, and faith-centered classroom environment.
  • Supervises students to ensure safety and engagement in learning.
  • Communicates with school staff regarding student progress or classroom needs.
  • Models Christian behavior and supports the mission of Catholic education.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of sixty (60) college credit hours preferred.
  • Prior classroom or child supervision experience desirable.
  • Commitment to the philosophy and teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Effective communication, flexibility, and reliability.
