Position Information
Position Title Head Tennis Coach- Part Time Job Description
The Head Tennis Coach is responsible for all facets of leading a competitive NCAA Division I program for men and women. This includes the strategic planning, recruitment, and holistic development of student-athletes, ensuring excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
Core Responsibilities
Program Leadership:
Direct and coordinate the planning, organizing, and coaching of the team. Implement effective training and game strategies.
  • Recruitment: Identify and recruit high-quality student-athletes who meet the academic and athletic standards of MVSU and the NCAA.
  • Academic Success: Monitor and encourage the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure compliance with NCAA, SWAC, and University eligibility requirements.
  • Fiscal Management: Prepare and manage the program's operating budget, overseeing expenditures and adhering to departmental financial policies.
  • Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to all NCAA, SWAC, and University rules and regulations, ensuring staff and players are informed of all governing policies.
  • Public Relations & Fundraising: Act as a primary representative of the program by engaging with media, alumni, and donors to secure resources and promote public support.
  • Staff Supervision: Recruit, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and team managers.
Logistics: Coordinate home and away game arrangements, including scheduling, travel, and equipment needs.

  • Experience:Coaching experience with a proven track record of player development and competitive success.
  • Skills:
    Advanced knowledge of sport specific tactics, techniques, and strategies.

  • Proficiency in video analysis and modern scouting technologies.
