Job Location: 4600 Paseo Del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113
Work Schedule: 8-hour shifts; 5 days; Monday- Friday; Full-time
Compensation: $22/ hour
American Gypsum Company LLC has been manufacturing, selling, and distributing gypsum wallboard products for over half a century, servicing the drywall industry with quality products that are sold throughout the United States.
JOB SUMMARY:
American Gypsum is currently accepting applications for our Summer Laborer Program, a maximum 90-day temporary employment opportunity for relatives of current employees. This role offers a hands-on experience in our wallboard manufacturing facility, supporting plant operations through essential housekeeping and general labor work.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be a relative of a current American Gypsum employee
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely in an industrial environment
  • Steel-toe boots required (PPE such as hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses will be provided.)
  • Must be able to lift/ move up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
SAFETY
  • Operate in a safe manner, following all plant and departmental safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Keep away from mobile equipment and interaction with operating machines.

OPERATIONS
  • Perform housekeeping duties throughout the plant
  • Sweep, shovel, and remove dust and debris from mill areas and production floors
  • Clean work areas and walkways to maintain safety and cleanliness standards
  • Assist with general labor tasks as assigned by supervisors
  • Other duties as assigned by the management.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS:
  • Manufacturing site
  • Typically, well-lighted
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Indoors and outdoors work
  • Frequent walking, bending, shoveling, and standing for extended periods
