Job description

Mowing Program Inspector (Seasonal/Temporary)

Mowing Program Inspector (Seasonal/Temporary) Schedule: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, or flexible as needed

What You'll Do

You'll be the eyes on the ground ensuring City-owned properties are maintained to standard. From inspecting mowing work to responding to concerns, you'll help keep Fort Wayne clean, safe, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect City-owned properties after mowing to ensure contract compliance
  • Respond to and investigate complaints related to property conditions and ordinance violations
  • Make real-time decisions in the field to address issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Communicate with residents, contractors, and City departments professionally-even in challenging situations
  • Document inspections using GIS, digital tools, and databases while maintaining accurate records

What You Bring – Education & Experience

High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)

Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in the field

Comfortable interacting with the public and handling concerns professionally

Ability to read maps, follow procedures, and complete written reports

Preferred Certifications

Valid Indiana Driver's License

Current auto insurance

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Familiarity with GIS, Microsoft Office, and web-based systems

Ability to use handheld devices, cameras, and basic measuring tools

Understanding of inspection processes or municipal codes is a plus
