Job description

Metro Services is seeking to immediately fill Poultry Hand positions for an Agricultural company in Pikeville, TN. This is a Temp-to-Hire job. Apply now!
Duties for this position include:
• Remove debris and strip litter from poultry houses to maintain a clean and sanitary environment
• Raise, lower, remove, and dismantle equipment as needed for cleaning and production activities
• Open and close poultry house doors as required and assist with general facility maintenance
• Scrape, clean, and sanitize floors, walls, slats, and equipment using approved chemicals while following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Work with day-old chicks and assist with daily poultry care activities
• Collect birds for weighing, moving, and vaccinations as directed
• Collect blood samples and apply, remove, or replace identification bands and tags
• Safely handle cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and detergents while following all safety procedures
• Follow all Animal Care Standards, Animal Welfare Guidelines, and Biosecurity policies
• Assist other departments as needed and perform additional duties assigned by supervisors
Compensation (USD):
$15.00/hour
Schedule:
1st Shift
Monday – Friday (Occasional Saturdays)
5:00 a.m. – Until the day's work is complete
Typical shifts are approximately 7–10 hours.
Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to perform repetitive work in a fast-paced agricultural environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, stoop, grip, twist, push, and pull throughout the shift
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working with live poultry and handling birds as part of daily responsibilities
• Ability to safely work with detergents, disinfectants, and other cleaning chemicals
• Ability to work in dusty environments with exposure to farm odors, noise, pests, and changing weather conditions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and personal responsibility
• Willingness to work up to six days per week, including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed
• Previous animal husbandry or poultry experience is preferred but not required
