Job description

Description Seasonal Municipal Service Laborer Examples of Duties TYPICAL TASKS: Loads and unloads materials, supplies, and other materials and equipment. Cleans, scrubs, and flushes sidewalks/driveways, bridge decks, garage areas. Performs routine building maintenance including cleaning of floors, windows, and walls and rest room facilities.

Pick up and dispose of all forms of litter and debris. Collects and distributes mail and delivers divisional literature, acts as public messenger. Regulates routine facility thermostatic controls.

Tends to Water Treatment Plant debris screens. Operates mechanized hand pumps and other equipment. Makes minor mechanical equipment repairs.

Cares for grass lawns, vacant lots, and other landscaped areas by grading, seeding, mowing, trimming, weeding, planting, raking, and watering. Erects concrete foundations for memorial markers and monuments. Prunes both Cemetery trees and shrubbery.

Repairs roadways in all public right of ways, Parks, Streets, and Cemeteries. Excavates and backfills trenches, fence/bollard post-holes, and grave plots. Assists Street Repair craft workers.

Moves and Operates non-CDL licensed trucks and other vehicular equipment. Assist Drivers and Operators in the performance of truck, car, and other equipment washing duties. Installs temporary fencing and places pedestrian/vehicular protection in the public right of ways.

Maintains port landing areas and public rights of ways at the Airports, including sewers, hazards, and snow removal. Maintains tennis courts, play areas, and other designated recreational areas. Cleans outdoor park and recreation pavilion areas and rest room facilities.

Cleans and removes offensive graffiti. Operates the loading mechanism on the rear of a Waste Division packer unit. Empties commercial and residential street Waste Containers.

Carries commercial and residential waste containers from backyards to the street and loads same as required. Uses a broom and shovel as required. Performs all other related labor work in waste collection operations, including paper shredding.

Performs other job-related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Valid State of Ohio driver's license is preferred, to operate City-owned cars, light trucks, or vans; otherwise driving privileges will not be authorized.
