Overview

The Kroeger Lab is seeking a detail-oriented individual to support daily laboratory operations, assisting in planning, maintaining or completing research programs and/or projects.

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work
  • Emergencies

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performs mouse colony management
  • Performs mouse genotyping on various transgenic strains
  • Harvests mouse brain tissue and perform histological processing and analysis
  • Record and analyze data from behavioral experiments with mice, such as analyzing sleep/wake states based onEEGdata
  • Assists with running behavioral experiments with mice, such as the Morris Water maze or Object Recognition test
  • Maintains lab routines and ordering supplies
  • Prepares data and graphs for presentation
  • Assists in the development of research proposals, plans and protocols
  • Conducts routine or fundamental experiments, investigations and/or studies related to programs and projects in pursuit of new knowledge, techniques and concepts
  • May instruct students and/or supervise others' research in area of expertise

Qualifications

Basic familiarity in laboratory functions.
