Job description

Placement Type:
Temporary
Salary:
$50-55 Hourly
Start Date:
Aug 10, 2026
Aquent is partnering with a well-established and impactful organization dedicated to fostering community well-being and personal growth. This client is seeking an exceptional talent to join their team and make a significant impact on how their valuable knowledge is shared and absorbed. This is an incredible opportunity to leverage your instructional design expertise to refine and elevate critical training content, directly contributing to the development and success of countless individuals within a mission-driven environment.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Instructional Designer to spearhead the transformation of existing training materials into modern, engaging, and highly effective learning resources. In this pivotal role, you will not just update content; you will redefine the learner experience, converting legacy information into interactive, easy-to-use assets that empower adult learners. If you thrive on refining content, organizing complex information, and delivering polished, impactful materials, particularly with advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, this role offers a unique chance to leave a lasting mark.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the modernization and enhancement of existing training materials, transforming them into dynamic and effective learning resources.
  • Reimagine legacy content, converting it into engaging, interactive, and learner-centered workbooks and training assets.
  • Ensure all updated training content is meticulously aligned with existing presentation materials and overarching learning objectives.
  • Utilize your advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign to develop high-quality, interactive, and fillable PDF documents and other polished deliverables.
  • Strategically improve content organization, optimize instructional flow, and elevate the overall learner experience.
  • Apply cutting-edge adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to maximize engagement and usability of all materials.
  • Collaborate closely with diverse stakeholders to gather crucial feedback, seamlessly incorporate revisions, and ensure all project goals are met with precision.
  • Partner effectively with an existing graphic designer, providing direction for specialized visual or image updates as needed.
  • Deliver high-quality, polished learning materials consistently within established project timelines, ensuring excellence in every output.

What You'll Bring
Must-Have Qualifications
  • 5+ years of dedicated instructional design experience, specifically developing adult learning materials.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign is required, demonstrating mastery in creating sophisticated layouts and interactive elements.
  • Proven experience in creating interactive PDFs and fillable forms, showcasing your technical and design capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies and a deep understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in improving and restructuring existing training content, rather than solely developing curriculum from scratch.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills, enabling you to drive projects efficiently.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience developing instructor-led training materials, participant guides, workbooks, or comprehensive learning resources.
  • Familiarity with accessibility and usability best practices specifically for digital learning materials.
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including content experts and graphic designers.

Project Snapshot
  • This is a part-time contract engagement, offering flexibility and impact.
  • Anticipate approximately 20 hours per week during the initial phase of the project.
  • Expect approximately 10 hours per week during the final review and revision phase.
  • There is a strong opportunity for additional instructional design projects based on evolving business needs and your performance.
