The Patient Care Technician Trainee is a temporary entry level position. The position exists to provide incumbents training to achieve educational knowledge and a defined skillset and ultimately obtain an internal certification which qualifies the trainee for a Patient Care Technician position at MyMichigan Health. The Patient Care Technician Trainee will receive education to provide basic nursing care, communicate with patients, family members, and others on the healthcare team, and obtain the skills necessary to provide, and assist with, patient activities of daily living. The training program and materials will be provided, and incumbents are paid to attend classes.
Responsibilities
(100%)* Satisfactorily complete the Patient Care Technician training program within two weeks of the date of hire or transfer to position.
Satisfactory completion will be achieved by:
• Attending class every day for the entire scheduled time
• Demonstrating competency of skills learned during class
• Achieving a score of 84% on all quizzes and tests
• Displaying the values of MyMichigan Health in all interactions with instructors, patients, family members and other members of the health care team.
