| Credentials | Typically requires a master's or doctoral student status, or temporary license | Must hold a valid state license and doctoral degree in psychology |
| Work Environment | Short-term assignments in clinics, schools, or testing centers | Long-term practice in private, clinical, or hospital settings |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Used for temporary testing projects or internships | Full-time licensed professionals providing ongoing psychological services |

ASAC is a specialty clinic within the University of Miami's Department of Psychology that provides comprehensive diagnostic, psychological, psycho-educational, and multidisciplinary evaluations to individuals with or suspected of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) across the lifespan (12 months through adulthood). Most clients seen are preschool or school-aged children who are clinically complex and often present with co-occurring difficulties (e.g., ADHD, learning disorder, language disorder, mood and/or anxiety disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, etc.). Additionally, ASAC offers behavioral parent training (e.g., PCIT, RUBI) to children with ASD and caregivers. Services are provided via telehealth and/or in-person appointments. Our team is comprised of monolingual and bilingual licensed psychologists and a bilingual speech-language pathologist, as well as clinical psychology doctoral students, pediatric psychology interns, and post-doctoral associates. Located in Miami, Florida, ASAC serves individuals of various cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
In pursuing its mission to acquire, advance and disseminate knowledge within the Psychological and Biobehavioral Sciences, the Department of Psychology balances several academic endeavors including: teaching (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, faculty development, professional training), research (e.g., basic, applied), work with diverse populations, and community service. The Department has extensive research and service programs throughout the culturally diverse Miami area directed by its 50+ faculty and 146 administrative and research staff members. The research programs rank among the top nationally for National Institute of Health funding in psychology departments. Since 1966, the graduate program in clinical psychology has received continuous accreditation by the American Psychological Association (APA) and is consistently ranked among the best clinical programs in the country.
