Job description

Our client is a highly successful cloud-based software and technology firm. Looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join their in-house team.
Work directly for the Senior Manager of Corporate Tax, and with the VP of Tax on all aspects of the corporate tax function. Work cross-functionally with all areas in finance, directly with business operations and with outside consultants. This position is critical to the Finance Department as it operates to ensure global compliance with tax laws. You will be joining a lean team with high visibility and high exposure to Senior Management and throughout the organization. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, independent, hands-on, and self-directed individual.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of tax matters for Alarm.com and its businesses, with focus on preparing certain aspects of the US income tax returns and income tax provision. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of certain tax adjustments to be used in the US income tax returns and the ASC 740, Accounting for Income Tax, calculations, including foreign research and development costs, executive compensation deduction limitation, temporary differences based on ending account balances, tax depreciation and amortization, state apportionment factors, and state research and development tax credit calculations.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external advisors for data requests related to US Federal, state and foreign income tax compliance and ASC 740 matters.
  • Review state income tax returns and certain pro forma Federal income tax returns prepared by the external advisors.
  • Review certain aspects of the ASC 740 calculations prepared by external advisors.
  • Assist with income tax exam management, including gathering requested documentation and coordinating responses to auditor inquiries in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Support continuous improvement and documentation of internal tax processes and perform necessary SOX controls at the required frequencies.
  • Work directly with external advisors in the above tax matters.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Two to fours years of tax experience working in a public accounting and/or corporate tax function, with a focus on corporate income tax compliance.
  • Accounting degree, CPA a plus.
  • Experience with Alteryx strongly preferred, particularly for optimizing complex tax calculations and transforming large volumes of source data into usable tax workpapers and summaries.
  • Experience with corporate income tax preparation and ASC 740 software, OneSource Income Tax and OneSource Tax Provision software experience a plus.
  • Experience working with corporate accounting systems (Great Plains experience a plus).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
