Temporary Stryker Rns are registered nurses trained to work with Stryker surgical equipment, often in settings that utilize Stryker products. Operating Room Nurses also work in surgical environments but may not have specialized training with Stryker devices. Avg. caseload – Average 35-50 cases per day. Expectation for turnovers is less than 20 minutes. Special equipment – 3 Davinci robots. Use Stealth technology for Neuro navigation and use primarily Synthes or Stryker for ortho trauma. We don't do many ortho joints. How many suites – 16 OR's. Run from 12-14 routinely. As a level 1 trauma center, we reserve space for traumas. Service lines - Cardiac/ PV, Neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, transplants. We do a small volume of ENT and plastic procedures. Scrub or Circulate – both would be preferred. Other – the call for weekends is from end of shift on Friday until 0630am Monday.

CVOR ORIENTATION SCHEDULE:

  • Approximately 2-3 weeks in general OR rooms to get familiar with the department and to get comfortable circulating with proper resources.
  • Approximately 2 weeks circulating and scrubbing in vascular, because our CVOR call includes vascular.
  • Then on to circulating heart cases, starting to take heart shadow call, and moving into scrubbing once comfortable with the circulating flow in our rooms.

For the first 6 weeks before RNs are ready to take call for cardiac, RNs do general call for the department. We are staffed 24 hours per day, and our charge nurses would not put RNs into cases that we would not expect any circulator to be able to do or RNs would be a second set of hands in a large case needing extra help.
