Job description

Join Amazon Robotics and help transform how the world moves goods through innovative robotic solutions. As a Software Engineer, you'll partner with a talented, multidisciplinary team to design and develop the cloud and edge software components that power our robotic systems, directly impacting the experiences of millions of customers worldwide.
In this role, you'll focus on developing Linux Kernel device drivers and edge computing solutions that enable our robotic hardware to operate seamlessly. You'll work across multiple layers of our distributed software architecture, partnering with hardware teams and internal customers to integrate and deploy complete solutions. Your day might include designing driver implementations, troubleshooting hardware-in-the-loop testing frameworks, or working with workcell teams to refine how our software and hardware work jointly in real-world environments. You'll also participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and help shape how we approach scalability and reliability in our robotic systems.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Linux Kernel device drivers that enable communication between Amazon roboti
- Design and implement edge computing components that process data and control robotic operations with minimal latency
- Build and optimize Yocto-based builds for NVIDIA platforms to ensure efficient deployment across our robotic fleet
- Partner with workcell teams and internal customers to integrate software solutions with hardware systems and gather feedback for continuous improvement
- Establish and maintain hardware-in-the-loop testing frameworks that validate software performance and reliability in realistic operating conditions
A day in the life
Communicate with peer engineers and customers to design and implement software and platform features, including new device drivers, GreenGrass components, AWS services, reporting, etc. You'll work with your manager for Sprint planning and monthly/quarterly goal setting.

About the team
The Matrix team builds cloud and edge solutions used across Amazon Robotics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
