Job description

Position Title: Advancement Student Social Media Assistant
Department: Advancement
Reports To: Executive Administrative Specialist
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Social Media Assistant supports the Office of Advancement's social media presence by creating and publishing content, monitoring engagement, and assisting with digital marketing initiatives. This position serves as a liaison between the Advancement and Marketing teams to coordinate messaging, promote fundraising and engagement efforts, and support organizational goals through effective social media communications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Create, schedule, and publish content across the Office of Advancement's social media platforms.
  • Monitor social media channels and respond to routine comments, messages, and inquiries.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Advancement and Marketing teams to coordinate content requests, campaigns, and communication priorities.
  • Support the promotion of fundraising initiatives, donor engagement activities, events, and university programs through social media.
  • Maintain the social media content calendar and assist with campaign planning.
  • Gather, organize, and manage photos, videos, and other digital assets for social media use.
  • Track social media performance metrics and prepare basic reports on audience engagement and campaign effectiveness.
  • Research social media trends and recommend content ideas to enhance audience engagement and brand awareness.
  • Ensure content aligns with university branding, communication standards, and strategic objectives.
  • Assist with other marketing, communications, and advancement projects as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Maintain a flexible work schedule based on departmental needs and student availability including occasional support for events and special projects.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Open to freshman, sophomore, junior and senior-level students.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in good academic standing.
  • Coursework or pursuit of a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of major social media platforms and current best practices.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to create engaging content tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with content creation and graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Express preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Basic understanding of social media analytics and reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and stakeholders
