Job description

Licensed CFY Speech-Language Pathologist

Our client is hiring a licensed CFY Speech-Language Pathologist for a full-time role at a trusted skilled nursing facility in Jasper, AL. You will work under the supervision of an experienced SLP to assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) preferred. Candidates in CFY will be supervised by an SLP with ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Active Alabama State license required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred or supervising SLP must hold CCC.
  • Experience evaluating and treating dysphagia, including familiarity with video fluoroscopic evaluation and therapy preferred.
  • Ability to work with patients across the lifespan, from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to communicate with physicians and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Ability to perform documentation: evaluations, treatment plans, goals, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • COVID-19 vaccination preferred; exemptions considered.

Role Summary and Responsibilities:

  • Identify, assess, and provide treatment for individuals of all ages with communication and dysphagia disorders.
  • Manage and supervise programs and services related to human communication and its disorders when assigned.
  • Counsel patients, families, caregivers, and other providers about communication and swallowing disorders and their management.
  • Conduct screening, assessment, interpretation, diagnosis, and rehabilitation for speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and oropharyngeal function disorders.
  • Assess, select, and develop augmentative and alternative communication systems and train users and caregivers.
  • Perform documentation and contribute to departmental record keeping and charging processes.
  • Participate in discharge planning and provide staff and nursing in-service training as needed.

Physical and Special Demands:

  • Effective communication and hearing skills required for evaluation and treatment.
  • Willingness to work with individuals who have temporary or chronic physical, mental, or developmental disabilities.
  • Preferred experience with video fluoroscopic evaluation and dysphagia therapy.

Work Environment:

  • Provides treatment under written prescription of a licensed physician and under the direction of the Clinical Director.
