Job description

The Warming Center Manager is responsible for the overall operation, administration, and supervision of the city's temporary warming center located at 712 S. River St. for individuals experiencing homelessness.
The Warming Center Manager will provide leadership to center staff, volunteers, and contractors while overseeing day-to-day operations which includes intake, food distribution, coordinating supportive services, managing the facility, and staffing. This position will report directly to the Chief of Community Services.
Duties of the position include but are not limited to: Manage and oversee the daily operations of the warming center; Develop and implement warming center policies and procedures; Assist in preparing and managing the center budget; Maintain accurate records and reports; Coordinate with vendors to ensure coverage for security, food, and other needs; Coordinate intake, admissions, and exits; Communicate with city leadership to track progress of the warming center; Coordinate with law enforcement, EMS, and emergency responders when necessary; Maintain a safe and sanitary facility which includes coordination with the city's Facilities Division; Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, evaluating center staff and volunteers; Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage; Conduct staff meetings and training; Coordinate and maintain relationships with city partners for guest referrals.
This position requires a bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Criminal Justice, or related field. This position also requires three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in homeless services, social services, emergency shelter operations, or related human services and one (1) year of supervisory or management experience.
This is a part-time, temporary position with the expectation to work approximately 24 per week between October 1, 2026 until March 31, 2027. Flexible schedule with the majority of hours worked between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, however there may be a need to adjust hours based on the operational need of the warming center.
The hourly rate is $41 and will not include benefits.
