Position Summary

The Silk Screen Printer is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining screen printing equipment to apply graphics, text, and functional coatings to sheet metal parts in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role supports ISO-certified quality systems, complies with ITAR requirements where applicable, and meets OEM customer specifications with strict adherence to documentation, traceability, and workmanship standards.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and operates silk screen printing equipment for sheet metal components per approved work instructions.
  • Prepares screens, inks, fixtures, and substrates according to documented processes and print specifications.
  • Accurately registers screens to ensure proper alignment, repeatability, and consistency.
  • Mixes, verifies, and controls inks and coatings per approved formulations and OEM requirements.
  • Inspects printed parts for fit, finish, adhesion, legibility, and cosmetic quality.
  • Follows ISO-compliant procedures, work instructions, and quality standards at all times
  • Completes required production records, inspection checklists, and job documentation accurately and legibly.
  • Maintains lot traceability for parts, inks, screens, and materials as required.
  • Identifies nonconforming product and follow established containment and corrective action procedures.
  • Supports internal and external audits by maintaining clean, compliant workstations and records.
  • Handles ITAR-controlled drawings, parts, and information in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures printed markings and labeling meet ITAR, customer, and legal specifications.
  • Maintains awareness of export-controlled material handling and access restrictions.
  • Performs routine cleaning, preventative maintenance, and setup verification on printing equipment.
  • Troubleshoots printing defects such as misalignment, ink inconsistency, or adhesion issues.
  • Participates in lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicates effectively with quality, engineering, and production teams to resolve print-related issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Position Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in similar position required.
  • Experience with silk screen printing or similar industrial printing processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and follow controlled work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and repeatability.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to work in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience printing on sheet metal, powder-coated, painted, or pre-finished surfaces.
  • Experience with CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator. 
  • Prior experience in ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, or similar quality-managed environments.
  • Familiarity with OEM cosmetic and functional marking requirements.
  • Experience with UV, epoxy, or solvent-based industrial inks.
  • ITAR awareness or prior experience working with export-controlled products.
