Job description

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $58.28hr - $63.28hr

Requirement/Must Have:

  • 7+ years experience with circuit card design processes including requirements generation, preliminary design (block diagram generation, long lead part identification), detailed design (schematic generation, simulation, place & route), test plan generation, and integration & test.
  • Experience operating electronics laboratory equipment including: digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes (DSO, Mixed Signal), signal generators, DC power supplies, etc.
  • Competent skills and experience with ECAD software applications and related equipment.
  • Practical knowledge of industry standards, such as IPC for design (including design for manufacturability) and ASME/ANSI for documentation.
  • Knowledge of specific relevant IPC standards including IPC-2221, IPC-2222, IPC-6012, IPC-A-600, and IPC-A-610.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and create printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for circuit card assemblies (CCAs) based on inputs and feedback received from design engineers and manufacturing process engineers.
  • Place components within a given size envelope and route metal traces between those parts.
  • Hold milestone reviews with stakeholders and release PCB & CCA drawings.
  • Resolve failing modules/CCAs and perform testing to determine root cause of failure.
  • Place and route components ensuring that all electrical and physical specifications meet the specific design requirements for each PCB design.
  • Ensure that all requirements for manufacturing and assembly are met.
  • Develop and generate drawings and documentation to facilitate PCB fabrication and assembly.
  • Rework PCB designs when engineering design changes occur and assist the design team with ideas to resolve issues.
  • Perform drawing and documentation updates per the instructions of engineering change requests.
  • Create component ECAD library footprints and/or schematic symbols as required for design projects.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience leading teams to design and debug Digital CCAs (Technical, Cost, & Schedule).
  • Experience with signal integrity analysis tools (Hyperlynx preferred).
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Xpedition tool suite.
  • Experience with high speed serial protocols such as 10/25 Gb Ethernet, PCI Express Gen 2/3, and Fibre Channel.
  • Experience with high speed memory interfaces.
  • Ability to lead teams through conflict, clarify objectives, and develop consensus/buy-in as required.
  • Experience integrating with firmware/software and leading lab integration activities.
  • Experience with testing and qualification of the deliverable system.
  • An associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and/or an IPC CID certification.
  • Specific experience with Siemens (formerly Mentor Graphics) Xpedition software.
  • IT experience to help with backend management and maintenance of ECAD tools such as Siemens Xpedition and EDM.

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is beneficial.
