Job description

Truck Equipment Installer - Welder/Fabricator

We are hiring a skilled Truck Equipment Installer / Fabricator-Welder to join our client’s team in Tukwila, WA. This is a hands-on role responsible for installing, fabricating, and modifying truck equipment and components on commercial vehicles. Ideal candidates will have experience with welding, metal fabrication, truck body installation, liftgates, roll-up doors, and general shop work. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential for the right candidate.

Compensation:
$27.00 - $35.00 per hour DOE

Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Location:
Tukwila, WA

Responsibilities:

  • Install truck equipment including roll-up doors, liftgates, decking systems, shelving, and other vehicle accessories.
  • Perform MIG welding, cutting, grinding, and metal fabrication projects.
  • Fabricate and weld mounting brackets, posts, supports, and custom components as needed.
  • Read and interpret work orders, measurements, and installation specifications.
  • Modify and repair truck bodies, flatbeds, box trucks, and related equipment.
  • Safely operate shop equipment including welders, torches, grinders, drills, and saws.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, functionality, and safety standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and make necessary adjustments in the field or shop.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in welding, fabrication, truck equipment installation, or related mechanical trades.
  • Proficiency with MIG welding and basic fabrication techniques.
  • Experience working with commercial trucks, truck bodies, liftgates, flatbeds, trailers, or related equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform accurate measurements.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in a physically demanding shop environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
