Job description

Overview

Job Responsibilities:

The Outside Electrician is responsible for:

  • Install wireways supporting cables in submarines. Install cables and electrical components (nuclear and non-nuclear) ranging from large powerdistribution switchboards to telephones (also includes control, power,electronics, and weapon systems).
  • Install, tag out, and test ship's lighting.
  • Hook up cables to electrical components in accordance with NAVSEAmethods and procedures, such as hardwire and connecterization.
  • Groom electrical components for a variety of inspections, and also responsible to provide documentation for every job performed. Mechanics are provided skills, including Vulcanization of ship's cables and the installation and maintenance of shipboard temporary services.
  • Applicants will be tasked tolearn power and data/signal cable splicing.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED or 2+ years related technical experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be available for all shifts.

Preferred:

  • Vocational, Technical Colleges, Apprentice programs, Military, Shipbuilding, and Manufacturing experience
  • Successful completion of the Eastern CT Workforce Investment Board Manufacturing Pipeline Initiative Training Program
