Job description

We help make your world a safer place.

Securitas is hiring a Full-Time Mobile Security Officer to provide driving-based security services throughout the Wilmington/Merrimack Valley area.

This is a multi-site mobile patrol position-not a stationary security assignment. The officer will operate a company patrol vehicle and travel between client properties throughout each shift.

Current Opening

Pay: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4:00 AM-10:30 AM
Hours: 32.5 hours per week
Employment Status: Full-time
Primary Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts

The assigned coverage area includes Wilmington, Bedford, Billerica, Tewksbury, Andover, Lawrence, Haverhill, Peabody, and surrounding communities.

Important Driving Requirement

A valid driver's license and a clean driving record meeting Securitas requirements are required for this position.

This is a professional driving position. Mobile Security Officers operate a company patrol vehicle for a significant portion of the shift and are expected to follow all traffic laws, posted speed limits, seatbelt requirements, and Securitas safe-driving policies at all times.

Securitas patrol vehicles are equipped with Samsara vehicle-safety technology that monitors driving activity and behavior. Officers must be comfortable working in a monitored company vehicle and receiving coaching or corrective action when necessary.

Safe and responsible driving is a condition of employment. Candidates who are not willing to follow company driving rules consistently or work in a monitored patrol vehicle should not apply.

About the Position

As a Mobile Security Officer, you will operate an assigned Securitas patrol vehicle and travel between client properties throughout the Wilmington/Merrimack Valley area.

You will independently complete structured security visits, follow client-specific instructions, document your work, and respond appropriately when something is wrong.

Assignments may include scheduled or randomized patrol inspections, alarm response, guard checks, employee welfare checks, opening or securing facilities, key-control duties, temporary site coverage, and other site-specific security services.

Because this shift begins at 4:00 AM, candidates must be dependable and consistently able to report to work early Monday through Friday. Officers work independently while remaining in communication with the Securitas operations team.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Safely operate an assigned Securitas patrol vehicle throughout the shift.
  • Follow all traffic laws, Securitas safe-driving requirements, and vehicle-monitoring expectations.
  • Travel between multiple client properties along an assigned route.
  • Arrive at assigned locations within required service windows.
  • Conduct exterior and interior patrol inspections according to client-specific instructions.
  • Check buildings, grounds, parking areas, doors, windows, gates, access points, lighting, alarm systems, and other security-related equipment.
  • Identify signs of unauthorized access, forced entry, vandalism, suspicious activity, property damage, fire hazards, blocked exits, leaks, and other unsafe conditions.
  • Complete locking, unlocking, arming, disarming, key-control, or access-related duties when assigned and properly trained.
  • Respond to alarm activations and other dispatched calls, assess conditions from a safe position, and follow established escalation procedures.
  • Contact the Securitas operations team, emergency services, client representatives, or supervisors when required.
  • Conduct guard checks and employee welfare checks and provide temporary site coverage when assigned.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, employees, visitors, dispatchers, supervisors, and responding emergency personnel.
  • Use GPS, mobile reporting applications, and other technology to document arrivals, departures, patrols, observations, and actions taken.
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and detailed activity and incident reports, including photographs when required.
  • Immediately report security concerns, route delays, vehicle issues, missed services, accidents, or situations requiring additional assistance.
  • Securely maintain assigned keys, access devices, equipment, and patrol vehicles.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Clean driving record meeting Securitas Safe Driving requirements.
  • Willingness to operate a company vehicle equipped with Samsara vehicle-safety monitoring.
  • Ability and willingness to follow traffic laws and company driving policies throughout every shift.
  • Consistent availability Monday through Friday from 4:00 AM-10:30 AM.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to prepare clear activity and incident reports.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, GPS navigation, mobile applications, and digital reporting systems.
  • Ability to work independently, follow detailed instructions, manage time, and remain accountable for completing an assigned route.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to remain calm during alarms, suspicious activity, safety concerns, and emergencies.
  • Dependable attendance and the ability to report to work on time.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods, frequently enter and exit a vehicle, walk, stand, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to conduct indoor and outdoor patrols in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned Wilmington/Merrimack Valley coverage area.

Preferred Experience
  • At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, alarm response, military service, law enforcement, public safety, facilities operations, delivery services, or another position involving independent fieldwork and professional driving.
  • Experience completing incident reports, conducting property inspections, managing keys or access devices, or responding to dispatched calls.
  • Familiarity with Wilmington, Bedford, Billerica, Tewksbury, Andover, Lawrence, Haverhill, Peabody, and surrounding communities.
  • Previous experience working independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Strong customer service experience and a professional, approachable demeanor.

What We're Looking For

The strongest candidates will be dependable, safety-minded, observant, and comfortable spending a significant portion of the shift driving between locations. They must be able to manage an assigned route, follow detailed instructions, and make sound decisions without constant supervision.

This position requires more than simply arriving at each property. Officers must complete every assigned service correctly, recognize when something is unusual, document it clearly, and take the appropriate next step.

Because officers operate company vehicles and represent Securitas throughout the community, responsible driving, professionalism, and accountability are essential parts of the position.
