Summer Registration Assistant (Temporary)

Overview

The Summer Registration Assistant serves as the first point of contact for families, providing customer-focused service and clerical support during the district's busiest registration season. This temporary position manages high-volume phone calls, voicemails, and emails while assisting families with student registration, annual verification, school choice permits, and online portal access. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing timely, professional support to all families.

This is a temporary summer position expected to last approximately two months.

Essential Duties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the registration team by managing high-volume phone lines, responding to voicemails, and monitoring registration and permit email inboxes.
  • Assist walk-in and remote families with new student registration, annual verification, and school choice permits for all grade levels.
  • Provide professional and welcoming support to families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including communicating through interpreters, translation services, or telelanguage systems as needed.
  • Assist families with address, household, and contact information updates.
  • Guide parents and guardians through the online registration portal, including username/password resets and basic troubleshooting.
  • Perform accurate data entry within the Student Information System (SIS), including processing and approving family updates such as address and contact changes.
  • Assist with document collection, scanning, and digital uploads.
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support to the registration and permits office.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle student and family information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Collaborate effectively with registration staff, school secretaries, and other district personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work professionally and empathetically with a diverse community of families, students, and staff.
  • Basic computer proficiency and accurate data entry skills.
  • Experience using Google Workspace or similar office software.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous office, receptionist, or customer service experience preferred.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous clerical, customer service, or office experience preferred

Work Schedule

  • Temporary summer position
  • Monday - Thursday during June & July - Up to 6 hours per day.
    • Monday - Friday in August, with a need for some flexibility to work up to 8 hrs per day. 

Salary

  • Hourly - $16.50 per hour

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed in an office environment with frequent interaction with students, families, and staff.
