Job Title: Senior Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize our enterprise-scale voice communications infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for the health of critical carrier circuits, voice gateways, and complex digital/analog circuitry across multiple locations. You will serve as a lead technical resource for diagnosing connectivity issues, coordinating with external carriers, and supporting end-users in a high-demand environment. Key Responsibilities
• Network Diagnosis: Monitor and implement repairs for communications networks, equipment, and software. Troubleshoot carrier-related issues including digital/analog circuits and DMARCs.
• Carrier Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for service providers; open and manage tickets for circuit repairs and provide carriers with onsite access to equipment closets.
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Install communications hardware to the board level and maintain detailed service activity logs, including parts usage and inventory tracking.
• Specialized System Support: Troubleshoot and resolve service issues within Unified Communications environments and call center technologies (e.g., agent consoles and call routing).
• Technical Troubleshooting: Utilize specialized tools such as multimeters, tone generators, time-domain reflectometers (TDR), and DS1/DS3 test equipment to isolate faults.
• Documentation & ITSM: Manage incident and service request tickets within a standard ITSM tool (e.g., ServiceNow), ensuring accurate history and technical details are captured.
• Mentorship: Guide and orient new technicians on system architecture and standard operating procedures to ensure team proficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Associate degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
• Professional Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years troubleshooting voice gateways, carrier circuits, and enterprise voice infrastructure.
• Experience in Academic or Healthcare environments is strongly preferred.
• Technical Mastery:
• Deep knowledge of digital/analog circuitry and data transmission techniques.
• Proficiency with hand tools and the ability to interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.
• Familiarity with Cisco Unified Communications (CUCM) or similar enterprise voice platforms.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional customer service and communication skills; ability to work independently in a multi-shift, multi-location environment.
• Logistics: Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to support a rotating shift schedule.
