Job description

Ready to take the lead on complex injection molding setups and keep production running at its best? Bring your technical experience, problem-solving skills, and eye for quality to a hands-on role where your work makes an impact every shift!
APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting manufacturing company looking to add a Process Setup Technician to their already amazing team. Their primary responsibility will be to safely and efficiently set up molds, troubleshoot injection molding equipment, and support production quality and performance. Keep reading for more details!

  • Hands-on role supporting advanced injection molding equipment and robotic systems

What your day will look like:
  • Start up, shut down, set up, and troubleshoot injection molding machines.
  • Prepare, install, and remove molds and tooling; confirm molds are set correctly and materials are ready.
  • Review production processes and documentation while monitoring productivity, quality, cycle times, and scrap.
  • Communicate between shifts and coordinate production schedules and priorities with the Shift Lead.
  • Partner with Maintenance and the Tool Room to resolve equipment and mold concerns while supporting 5S and safe material handling.
What we are looking for:
  • Five or more years of technical, process, and setup experience in plastic injection molding preferred; experience with 1,400- to 2,400-ton machines is an asset.
  • Experience with PP, nylon, glass-filled materials, TPE, TPU, ABS, and other engineered resins; Scientific Molding knowledge is an asset.
  • Knowledge of hot runner controllers, sequential valve gates, auxiliary equipment, dryers, and thermolators.
  • Familiarity with sprue pickers, end-of-arm tooling, six-axis FANUC robots, and gantry-style robotic systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, communication skills, reliability, and root-cause problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work afternoon or night shifts and overtime, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform the standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and climbing required; forklift and crane credentials are assets.
