Summit County, located in Utah, is recruiting a devoted caregiver looking to make a difference in a region that takes pride in our Public Health programs. The Seasonal Time Limited Nurse provides temporary professional nursing services in support of immunization outreach activities administered by the Summit County Health Department (SCHD) Nursing Division. This position is intended to expand SCHD's capacity to deliver vaccine services at non-fixed, community-based sites throughout Summit County and may be funded through grant awards, county appropriations, or other available funding sources. The Seasonal Nurse works within the scope of professional nursing practice as authorized by the Utah Nurse Practice Act and operates under standing orders issued by the SCHD Medical Director. Job closes 09/16/2026 at 5:00pm Mountain Time. 

SALARY: $40/hr.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP), Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing with the State of Utah required.
• One (1) year prior experience in immunization administration or community/public health nursing.
• Must be CPR/AED certified, or obtain certification within 30 days of start date.
• Must possess a valid Utah driver's license.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Administer vaccines to individuals of all ages at community outreach locations, including drive-through clinics, mobile and pop-up clinics, schools, and home visits.

• Follow SCHD standing orders, current ACIP recommendations, and Utah immunization laws when administering vaccines.

• Provide immunization services and determine patient eligibility based on applicable funding requirements.

• Assist patients with identifying appropriate health insurance coverage options or referrals as needed.

• Attend required pre-event orientations and training covering standing orders, vaccine storage and handling, emergency procedures, and site-specific clinic logistics.

• Accurately and promptly document patient encounters in the electronic health record to support reporting, funding verification, and quality assurance.

• Monitor patients after vaccination for adverse reactions and provide appropriate clinical responses, including activating emergency procedures when necessary.

• Provide professional and respectful care to individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and personal backgrounds and with varying physical abilities.

• Follow OSHA safety standards, including Bloodborne Pathogens and Respiratory standards, as well as HIPAA requirements and SCHD privacy policies.

• Perform additional nursing duties as directed by the Nursing Director or Vaccine Coordinator within the scope of the position.
