Job description

Stamford Health Medical Group is hiring a temporary/contract RN for our Pediatrics practice in Stamford, CT.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. 12-week assignment.

Come join a well-established, highly productive and close-knit team of patient-focused Physicians and multiple support staff members! In this role, you will coordinate and develop patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and provide supervision & mentorship for non-RN team members. 

Responsibilities:

The Registered Nurse coordinates and develops patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and follows all established standards of practice within the State and Federal guidelines. Provides supervision and mentorship of non-RN personnel. Serves as a resource to both staff and management in problem identification and resolution.

  • Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greet patients, documents patients concern, questions etc...accompanies patient to exam/procedure room and prepares patients for physical exam. Initial patient interview; reviewing patient medical profile, H&P and document in EMR/manual charting as appropriate
  • Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs, weight and reports any abnormalities to physician. 
  • Assists with specimen collection and testing as necessary. 
  • Documents pertinent information in EMR
  • Assists patients as necessary i.e. walking, transferring, dressing etc...
  • Provides minor treatment as directed by physician, assists physicians with minor procedures
  • Provides education as indicated after assessing the learning needs of the patient and or family
  • Documents all patient related activities 
  • As necessary, Schedules patient testing and pre certifies if insurances require
  • Responds to all telephone messages (patient, physician offices etc...) 
  • End of month checks for expired supplies and medication
  • Stocks rooms/maintains inventory or exam/procedure rooms
  • Orders supplies as needed
  • Cleans the exam/procedure room & equipment after each patient
  • Prepares exam /procedure room for next patient & physician needs
  • Notifies patients of test results (per physician instruction) and follow up 
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, in service education opportunities and participates in continuing education programs. 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Valid license as Registered Nurse in CT
  • BLS Certification
  • Excellent customer service / communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
