About This Role

The RN First Assistant functions as the first assistant to the operating surgeon during operative procedures and provides comprehensive nursing management of care during the peri-operative phase.

Highlights
  • Location: Williamsville, NY
  • Facility: Millard Fillmore Suburban
  • Schedule: Full-Time, Day shift
What You'll Do
  • Assist the operating surgeon during operative procedures.
  • Provide comprehensive nursing management of care during the peri-operative phase.
  • Do not concurrently function as the scrub nurse.
Requirements

Education:

  • Current NYS registration as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • American Heart Association-Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) required; must be obtained within three years if absent upon hire

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of clinical experience in the area of specialty preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience in OR required and graduate of accredited program
  • Three (3) years diversified perioperative nursing experience, both scrubbing and circulating required

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current CNOR required upon hire; must remain active and current
  • Successful completion of a RN First Assistant course and internship that meets AORN Standards for RN First Assistant Education Programs
